Heightened Security at YYC Calgary International Airport for 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit (June 15–17)

From June 15 to 17, the YYC Calgary International Airport will be the gateway to the 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit in Kananaskis. As a result, there will be a heightened level of security at and around the airport.

Although it is not anticipated to have a major impact on DHC operations, there will be some impacts to employees working in our facilities at or near the airport, including:

  • Increased police presence
  • Roadway closures and restrictions:
    • Airport tunnel will be closed
    • No stopping or parking on 36 Street NE north of Barlow Trail to Country Hills Blvd NE
    • Police checkpoint at McCall Way NE – access will be restricted to persons with work ID for this area.  This checkpoint will be located at the north end of McCall Way, so it will not interfere with access to CGY1
      • No stopping and expect delays on Aero Drive NE

    • No stopping and expect delays on Aero Drive NE
  • Photography, videography, and social media posting of closed airside areas, dignitaries, related aircraft, and police and security activities is strictly prohibited
  • Attendance at DHC facilities along the airport security line is restricted to people who have work purpose to be there
  • For employees with a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC):
    • Airside activity will be restricted to critical operations
    • Do not access closed airside spaces or areas of the airport where you are not required to be as part of your work duties
    • Follow the instructions of police, security, and airport officials, as additional security protocols may be implemented on short notice

In addition, employees are asked to be vigilant of potential security threats and report any suspicious activities or items:

  • 911 for emergencies
  • (403) 735-1300 – YYC Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) for non-emergencies
