Accountability

As we continue our journey through this transformative period at De Havilland Canada, it’s important that we recognize the dedication and resilience each of you has demonstrated. We’ve laid a strong foundation with grit and respect, and now it’s time to introduce the third of our six core values: Accountability.

Accountability is essential for any successful organization. It’s about ensuring that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities clearly and takes ownership of their actions and outcomes. We believe that accountability is not a punitive measure, but rather a framework that supports clarity, efficiency, and trust within our teams.

Amidst the significant changes, growth, consolidation and other challenges we face each day, accountability becomes even more crucial. Clear roles and responsibilities ensure that everyone knows their place in the organization, which helps in reducing confusion, enhancing collaboration, and driving collective success.

We have seen numerous instances of accountability throughout our organization. From project teams meeting their milestones to individuals taking proactive steps to address challenges, these actions underscore the importance of accountability in our operations.

Accountability is a practice that we can all develop and strengthen. Here are a few ways we can foster accountability in our workplace:

  1. Clarify Roles and Expectations: Ensure that everyone understands their specific roles and what is expected of them. Clear job descriptions and regular check-ins can help maintain this clarity.
  2. Set Measurable Goals: Establish clear, measurable goals and track progress regularly. This helps individuals understand their contributions to the larger objectives and stay focused on achieving them.
