I am pleased to announce that Andy King has accepted the role of Fleet Director – Aerial Firefighter, effective immediately. Andy brings over 25 years of aviation experience to this role, along with a strong background in fleet operations, customer support, and strategic leadership. Since joining De Havilland two years ago, he has served as Customer Support Manager for waterbomber aircraft within Aftermarket, where he played a key role in supporting our aerial firefighting customers.
As Fleet Director, Andy will provide strategic leadership to ensure a comprehensive understanding of fleet operations and to meet the needs and expectations of our key customers. He will guide priorities related to in-service fleet performance, product strategies, and new designs while leading seamless entry-into-service efforts for new aircraft. Andy will also play a pivotal role in fostering relationships with key stakeholders and contributing to the sales efforts across multiple areas, including new aircraft and technical services.
Andy’s extensive expertise includes an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Engineering, an MSc in Aerosystems, and his designation as a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He is a former Fighter Pilot and Instructor with the Royal Air Force, having served in combat operations. Following his military career, Andy joined BAE Systems, where he spent seven years as Director of Operations for the Eurofighter program in the Middle East.
Andy’s expertise and leadership will be instrumental in driving success and strengthening our position in the aerial firefighting sector.
