Celebrating Team Success: Positive Results from TCCA Process Inspection

We are pleased to share that De Havilland Canada (DHC) has successfully completed a Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) Process Inspection (PI) of Chapter 505 of the Airworthiness Manual (AWM), which outlines the requirements for Design Approval Organizations (DAO). This inspection assessed our organization’s compliance with the framework that authorizes us to conduct design approval activities on behalf of Transport Canada.
This milestone marks the first PI conducted for the DHC DAO since the certificate was originally issued in June 2019. The audit scope was comprehensive, encompassing all design approval activities carried out under the DHC DAO between June 2019 and February 2025. These included activities conducted following the merger of the Viking and De Havilland DAOs into a single DHC DAO in June 2024.

The inspection process included:
  • Pre-site research and planning
  • On-site reviews at our Mississauga facility from March 25–28, which involved interviews with DHC personnel and sampling of approval documentation
  • And a post-site analysis to ensure our systems support continuous compliance with regulatory requirements
We’re proud to report that all areas evaluated during the inspection were found to be in full compliance, and no corrective actions were required. This is a remarkable achievement and demonstrates the dedication and professionalism of our teams.

The inspection also resulted in 10 observations, which highlighted some discrepancies between our published procedures, manuals and the practices observed during the audit. While these do not require formal corrective action, DHC will proactively investigate the root causes and implement appropriate corrective measures using the same disciplined processes we apply to formal findings.

This successful outcome reflects the collective effort and commitment of everyone involved in maintaining the high standards expected of a DAO.

Thank you to all the teams and individuals who contributed to this process — your hard work and attention to detail are truly appreciated!
