We’re excited to celebrate the newest graduates of the DHC Academy, and a major milestone for the program. This group marks the first-ever afternoon cohort, introduced to help support our growing production needs as we continue to ramp up. These students brought determination, focus, and a strong work ethic to every session, truly embodying the grit and accountability that define our DHC culture.
What is the Academy?
No one knows our aircraft like we do, and that’s what makes De Havilland Canada the ideal place to shape the next generation of aviation talent. The Academy’s thoughtfully designed program delivers a dynamic blend of classroom learning and hands-on experience, preparing students for success in our sub-assembly and assembly work centers. Over 12 intensive weeks, graduates build a strong foundation to launch their careers as Sheet Metal Assemblers.
Our redesigned Academy offers more space, more equipment, and more opportunities to bring theory to life. With practical learning at the heart of every lesson, students develop specialized skills in riveting, drilling and reaming, fastening, drawing interpretation, aircraft sealing, torquing, and the installation of aircraft hardware and safety devices, ending on a team riveting project.
Every graduate leaves with not only technical know-how, but also the courage, accountability, and grit that define the De Havilland Canada standard.
A Milestone Cohort
This first afternoon class was guided by an all-female instructional team (@Gabriela Gil Gagne , @Delaini Brown , @Hirra Memon) whose leadership and expertise played a major role in the success of the cohort. Their approach to teaching reflected our core values, showing empathy when students needed support, demonstrating courage as they shaped a brand-new offering, and fostering a learning environment built on respect and appreciation.
The students matched that same level of commitment. They showed grit as they tackled new skills, accountability in their daily progress, and respect for the learning process and each other.
The Graduates
The celebration was filled with well-earned pride as graduates received their certificates from their instructors, recognizing weeks of hard work and growth. The event concluded with smiles, congratulations, and a shared sense of achievement as they prepared for their next steps with De Havilland Canada.
If you see any of these new team members around our facilities, be sure to offer them a warm DHC welcome, and a congratulations on being part of this important Academy milestone!
