Committed to Safety

At DHC, we’re always striving to create a safe and healthy workplace, and we need your help. We’re looking for volunteers to join our Health and Safety Policy Committee.

What is a Health and Safety Policy Committee?
This group will address occupational health and safety matters that can’t be managed at the local level. We need to be sure that we comply with safety regulations, review existing policies, investigate incidents, and recommend improvements for the health and safety of our workplace, and that’s what this committee is for.

What will the Committee do?
Here are just a few highlights of the committee’s responsibilities:
•    Help to develop health and safety policies and programs
•    Assist in creating a program to provide health and safety education of employees
•    Participate in inquiries, studies, investigations and inspections
•    Help design a program for providing personal protective equipment, clothing, devices or materials

Who are we looking for?
Of course, we need folks with expertise in occupational health and safety risks. We’re looking for people who have:

•    Working knowledge of the Canada Labour Code
•    Familiarity with occupational health, industrial hygiene, and risk management
•    Great communication skills to discuss, review, and revise documents
•    An ability to identify hazards and implement safeguards

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be taking applications, so click this link if you’re interested.

There will be both employee and employer representatives on the committee, and members will serve a two-year term. Employees represented by a trade union will be selected for the committee by the respective trade union.

If you have any questions regarding the committee’s work or responsibilities, please feel free to reach out to the Health and Safety Team.

Thanks for your interest in creating a safer and healthier workplace at De Havilland Canada!
