De Havilland Canada Holiday Hours – 2024

Although summer has not wrapped up quite yet, the holidays will be upon us soon. To provide as much advanced planning as possible, please note the following information for the upcoming 2024 holiday season:

Holiday parties:

  • Toronto: November 30 – Hyatt Regency

  • Victoria: December 6 – Mary Winspear

  • Calgary: December 14 – Telus Convention Center

Statutory holidays:

The following are paid statutory holidays where DHC facilities will be closed:

  • Wednesday, December 25, 2024

  • Thursday, December 26, 2024

  • Wednesday, January 1, 2025

We recognize that the holidays are an opportunity to take time with friends and family and encourage all employees to enjoy a well-deserved break. While we anticipate a natural slowdown in some organizational activities during this period, the holiday season is also a critical time in our operations as we continue to ramp up our DHC-515 Program, adhere to our Twin Otter Classic 300-G customer commitments, and continue to work cross-functionally on Large Cargo Door and IFS, among other priority projects.

Where operational plans permit, we intend to “shut down” across our organization from noon on December 24, 2024 through January 3, 2025. During this period, there are five days that will not be covered by statutory holidays (December 27, 30, 31, January 2, 3). These days will need to be covered by either vacation time, banked time where this option is available, or can be taken as unpaid time off.  De Havilland Parts and Aerostructures will follow their normal operating practice, please refer to local management with any questions.

As indicated above, we do anticipate work on priority programs. If you are required to continue to work during the days mentioned above, you will be notified in advance by your Manager. We will work with employees identified to determine alternative days to ensure everyone gets the rest and family time required, while still being able to meet our project deliverables and customer commitments.

If you are unable to cover this time off with vacation or in some other manner, and it creates any hardship for individuals, please contact your HR Business Partner. For additional questions, please see the attached FAQ.

Please note: the above may not apply to those covered by a collective agreement. Please refer to your CBA for details.
