Grit in Action: 7 Day Challenge

To help employees integrate the core value of GRIT into their daily activities by demonstrating perseverance, determination, and resilience in the face of challenges and setbacks, we have developed the “Grit in Action: 7-Day Challenge”.

This challenge is a week-long activity designed to encourage you to practice grit through specific, thoughtful actions each day. It focuses on maintaining long-term focus on goals, consistently putting in effort, and overcoming obstacles with persistence.

Activity Details:

Day 1: Set a Long-Term Goal

  • Task: Identify a long-term professional goal that you want to achieve. Write it down and then break it into smaller, manageable steps.

  • Reflection: Reflect on how setting a long-term goal can help you stay focused and motivated. Consider the steps you need to take to achieve this goal.

Day 2: Embrace Challenges

  • Task: Choose a challenging task or project that you have been avoiding. Commit to working on it today, focusing on making progress rather than achieving perfection.

  • Reflection: Reflect on how facing a challenging task made you feel. Consider how embracing challenges can help you develop perseverance and resilience.

Day 3: Consistent Effort

  • Task: Dedicate at least one hour today to working towards your long-term goal. Focus on making consistent progress, even if it’s just a small step forward.

  • Reflection: Reflect on the importance of consistent effort in achieving long-term goals. How did dedicating time to your goal affect your motivation and sense of accomplishment?

Day 4: Overcome an Obstacle

  • Task: Identify an obstacle that is hindering your progress towards a goal. Develop a plan to overcome it, and take the first step today.

  • Reflection: Reflect on the process of overcoming an obstacle. Consider how facing and addressing obstacles contributes to building resilience and determination.

Day 5: Stay Persistent

  • Task: Choose a task that requires persistence and commit to working on it until completion, regardless of any difficulties or setbacks.

  • Reflection: Reflect on how persistence played a role in completing the task. How did staying persistent affect your mindset and approach to challenges?

Day 6: Learn from Setbacks

  • Task: Think of a recent setback or failure you experienced. Reflect on what went wrong and identify at least one lesson you learned from the experience.

  • Reflection: Reflect on how learning from setbacks can contribute to personal and professional growth. How can you apply these lessons to future challenges?

Day 7: Reflect and Plan

  • Task: Review your daily logs and reflections from the past week. Identify patterns, strengths, and areas for growth. Create a plan to continue practicing GRIT.

  • Reflection: Write a summary of your experiences and the impact of practicing grit on your work and mindset. Share your reflections with a colleague or your team.

Benefits:

  • Promotes Personal Growth: Encourages employees to confront their fears and limitations, fostering self-awareness and confidence.

  • Enhances Perseverance: Supports employees in maintaining consistent effort towards long-term goals.

  • Builds Resilience: Encourages facing and overcoming obstacles, leading to a more resilient mindset.

  • Fosters a Growth Mindset: Reinforces the importance of learning from setbacks and continuously improving.
