Growing Great(er) Leaders at DHC!

Last week, 30 leaders from across DHC completed the Leadership Essentials course, offered as part of a new leadership development pilot with SAIT!

The first cohort brought together leaders supporting the De Havilland Canadair 515 Program in Calgary, with participants from Aerostructures, Methods, FAL, Stores, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Planning and PMO. Bringing together leaders from across so many different areas created an opportunity to learn from one another, share experiences and build stronger connections across the program.

Over two days, the group tackled the skills leaders use every day. From communication, decision-making and delegation to coaching, feedback, conflict management and navigating difficult conversations.

And the focus on growing our leaders doesn’t stop in Calgary! On August 26, we ran a pilot for Insights Discovery with leaders in Victoria. The interactive session helped participants better understand their own communication and working styles, and how different personality preferences can influence collaboration, decision-making and workplace relationships. Through facilitated discussions and practical activities, Victoria leaders explored strategies to communicate more effectively, strengthen working relationships, improve team collaboration and make the most of the diverse strengths within their teams.

Back in Calgary, the Leadership Essentials cohort will head back to SAIT together in October for an Emotional Intelligence course as the next phase of the pilot.

And don’t think we’ve forgotten about Toronto! We’ve had such positive feedback so far that we are already exploring a potential session for our leaders out east some time in November!

A big congratulations to everyone taking part in these programs! We’re excited to build on the momentum and continue creating opportunities for leaders across DHC to develop their skills, learn from one another and grow as leaders.
