As we continue to chart our course through this period of significant transformation at De Havilland, I am incredibly proud of the dedication, resilience, respect, accountability, and appreciation that each of you has shown. These core competencies have been instrumental in our progress. Today, I am excited to introduce the fifth of our six core competencies: Courage.
At De Havilland, we believe that courage is not just about heroic acts but also about the everyday decisions and actions that require bravery. It’s about having the conviction to voice your ideas, the determination to pursue innovative solutions, and the resilience to bounce back from setbacks. Courage fuels our growth and propels us toward a future of endless possibilities.
I have witnessed numerous instances of courage within our organization. From team members taking on new roles and responsibilities to individuals advocating for our values in action every day and driving change and innovation, these acts of courage inspire us all and drive our organization forward.
Courage is a quality that can be nurtured and encouraged. Here are a few ways we can encourage a culture of courage in our workplace:
1. Encourage Innovation: Support team members in exploring new ideas and taking calculated risks. Celebrate innovative thinking and provide a safe space for experimentation.
2. Lead by Example: Demonstrate courage in your actions and decisions. When leaders show bravery in facing challenges, it inspires others to do the same.
3. Support Open Dialogue: Create an environment where everyone feels comfortable voicing their opinions and concerns, even when we have differing opinions or viewpoints. Encourage open and honest discussions, even when the topics are difficult.
4. Recognize Courageous Acts: Acknowledge and celebrate instances of courage, whether it’s a team member proposing a new idea, taking on a challenging project, or standing up for their beliefs.
As we continue to move forward with business transformation, let’s make courage a guiding principle in all our actions. By embracing courage, we can navigate the complexities of change, drive innovation, and achieve extraordinary outcomes.
Thank you for your continued dedication, hard work, and demonstration of courage in everything we do. These attributes will help us as we build a stronger, more unified De Havilland.
