In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, DHC is honoured to welcome Melodie Ayoungman for a special presentation on Friday, September 25, at 1 p.m. MT.
Melodie, a Knowledge Keeper from Siksika Nation, will share her story and the work of the Lead by Example Foundation, and discuss how each of us can help advance truth and reconciliation. The event will include a presentation by Melodie, a fireside chat hosted by Mike Van Hee, and a special dance performed by some of Melodie’s family.
How to participate
The event will take place live at CGY7, and employees based at CGY7 are welcome to attend in person.
Employees across DHC can also participate in one of the following ways:
- A room has been booked in each DHC facility for employees to watch together
- Watch individually through the Microsoft Teams broadcast
The Teams link and room details will be shared soon.
The broadcast will be recorded and posted on DHC Connect following the event for employees who are unable to attend live.
In advance of Melodie’s presentation, we encourage you to check out her documentary ‘AYOUNGMAN’, which tells the story of her son, and the ongoing work being done to advance reconciliation.
September 30 office closure
As a reminder, our facilities will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We encourage employees to use this time to listen, learn and reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, as well as the role each of us can play in advancing reconciliation.
