National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Event with Melodie Ayoungman

DHC is honoured to welcome Melodie Ayoungman, a Knowledge Keeper from Siksika Nation, for a special presentation in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Friday, September 25 at 1 p.m. MT

Melodie will share her story and the work of the Lead by Example Foundation and discuss how each of us can help advance truth and reconciliation. The event will include a presentation from Melodie, a fireside chat, and a special dance performed by members of Melodie’s family.

Join the presentation

Employees at CGY7 are invited to attend the event live and in person. Employees at our other DHC facilities can join colleagues in the designated viewing room at their location or tune in individually through Microsoft Teams.

Join on Microsoft Teams using this link

We encourage everyone who is able to join us for this opportunity to listen, learn and reflect together. If you’re unable to attend live, the broadcast will be recorded and posted on DHC Connect following the event.

Ahead of tomorrow’s event, you can also watch Melodie’s documentary, AYOUNGMAN, which shares the story of her son and the ongoing work being done to advance reconciliation.

Looking ahead to September 30

As a reminder, DHC facilities will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We encourage employees to use this time to listen, learn and reflect on the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools and the role each of us can play in advancing reconciliation.
