In 1984, the Canadian Labour Congress established April 28 as the National Day of Mourning in Canada. This is a day to remember and honour those who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace, but also act as a reminder to collectively renew our commitment to improve health and safety in the workplace.
As our team continues to grow, we encourage you to take some time on this day, and every day, to reflect on your own health and safety practices, and how you can continuously improve in this space as a commitment to yourself and those around you.
It is our hope that the annual observance of this important day will help strengthen the resolve to establish safe and healthy conditions in the workplace, and to prevent further injuries, illnesses, and deaths. As much as this is a day to remember those who have lost their lives, it is also a call to protect our friends and family, and to make DHC a place where all employees can thrive through safety excellence.
