RESPECT: Behavioural Guidance

RESPECT: Behavioural Guidance

Description: Values others’ ideas, contributions, and differences. It involves treating colleagues with kindness and consideration, listening actively, acknowledging others’ achievements, and maintaining a professional demeanor. Respect fosters a positive work environment, enhances collaboration, and builds trust, contributing to overall organizational success and a supportive workplace culture.

Competencies: active listener, open-minded, consistent

What RESPECT is:

  • Treat every individual with dignity, regardless of diversity, background or status.

  • Embrace diverse perspectives and experience and ensure inclusivity in interactions.

  • Listen actively to understand customer perspectives and concerns.

  • Pause before acting, recognizing everyone’s pressures.

  • Respect the investment of time commitments, be present, prepared, prompt.

  • Respect our role as custodians of the De Havilland Canada brand.

What RESPECT isn’t:

  • Avoiding providing critical information or feedback because someone’s feelings may get hurt.

  • Not getting information you need thinking others are too busy to provide it (not wanting to ‘bother’ them).

  • Never providing your opinion or perspective because you are always allowing others to speak.

The way we behave in the workplace reflects our personal and organizational values. Because competencies relate more to what a person does, than what a person knows, they are observable. From our value statements, we extract our individual values, competencies and behaviours; the expectations we have for every person in our organization.
