The Summer Hours Program is back for 2026!

After the strong feedback from last year’s pilot, we’re excited to bring the pilot program back from June 1 through September 4 so that eligible employees can enjoy a little more sunshine and a few longer summer weekends while continuing to support operational requirements, business continuity and ongoing support for internal and external customer needs.

Eligible employees can earn every second Friday afternoon off by working an extra 30 minutes to their workday throughout the applicable two-week period.

Time for the fine print:

  • The program is available to:

  • Salaried employees working Monday to Friday

  • Employees scheduled for 8-hour workdays

  • The program is not available to:

  • Hourly employees

  • Shift employees

  • Employees governed by a Collective Agreement

A few important reminders:

  • Leaders will be monitoring working hours and time off.

  • Employees are expected to continue to report for work in-person on Friday mornings

  • Want the full Friday off? Employees may request partial vacation days for Friday mornings, subject to leader approval.

While we’re all for summer fun, business operations need to be maintained. Leaders and teams will work together to ensure appropriate coverage is maintained to support day-to-day operations throughout the summer months.  In general, we expect to see around half of participating employees at work each Friday afternoon, while the other half are away.

We hope this added flexibility helps you make the most of the season, whether that means extra family time, setting up your campsite a little earlier, catching a patio lunch, or simply enjoying a sunny start to the weekend.

Here’s to a great summer ahead!
