The Northern Lights Aero Foundation recognizes and celebrates women in the fields of aviation and aerospace. This year, DHC partnered with Northern Lights to provide the funds for a $5,000 scholarship specifically for young women entering aircraft maintenance engineering. We’re proud to announce the worthy recipient is Alea McLaren of Coquitlam, B.C. In addition to her studies and internship working on DHC aircraft at Harbour Air, Alea volunteers with B.C. Airlift Emergency Response, an international rescue dog organization, and she also tutors other aircraft maintenance engineering students. |

Alea has a passion for the maintenance of DHC aircraft such as the Beaver and the Otter and is thrilled to be embarking on a career where the sky’s the limit. Alea was honoured at the Northern Lights Gala in Toronto on October 5, where a table of DHC representatives cheered her on as she accepted her scholarship. If you’d like to hear more, Alea has recorded a YouTube video where she tells us all a bit more about why she’s pursuing a career in aircraft maintenance, and she expresses her sincere gratitude to De Havilland Canada for getting her started on this journey. |
