Emergency Evac

DHC wrapped up another evacuation drill yesterday, leaving just one more location to go this calendar year. We’re not saying an evac drill is coming Mississauga, but maybe note where your nearest exit is — wink wink.

In yesterday’s drill, employees left their desks without hesitation and calmly made their way to the stairwells. Leading by example, the executive team could be seen joining the line and heading out of the building, leaving tasks and personal effects behind.

Pardon the Interruption
We know it’s inconvenient, but we go through these drills to ensure our DHC team is prepared for a real event. Though these situations are unlikely and rare, we must always be prepared should one occur.

Are you ready?
If you don’t see a Fire Warden near at hand, do you know what to do? Here’s a few pointers from our Health, Safety, & Environment Team.

  1. Know the address at your location in case you need to call emergency services.
  2. If you have team members with physical restrictions, escort them to the central elevator locations or main stairwell exits, and the Fire Wardens will send emergency response personnel.
  3. Speaking of Fire Wardens, make sure you know who they are. Look for the posters on communication boards.

Thank you, DHC
The safety teams have witnessed swift, calm, controlled evacuations from all our locations. Thank you all and keep up the good work.
