Paris Airshow: Wednesday, June 18 — Day 3 Roundup

Hello all!

The learning and building connections continued today!

Our day began with a DHC hosted Pancake breakfast. It was great to bring the Stampede to Paris, with cowboy hats and country music that set a wonderful and upbeat tone for the day. It was an absolute hit! The Chalet was packed with a sea of white hats with guests enjoying pancakes and coffee in true Calgary style.

I joined a meeting with Universal Avionics where we reviewed the progress of our De Havilland Canadair 515 and Dash 8 avionics upgrade program and touched on potential future opportunities. Seeing a glimpse into strategies and gaining more understanding of the big picture was one of the best things I gained during this trip that will benefit me in my current Programs role. I think this insight will help me to stay focused on the important things when I get back to work to ensure we deliver to our customers.

Additionally, it was great to meet people from JANA, who are the Integrator for the Dash 8 Avionics, and Skytrac, who are our supplier for the flight following/tracking system for the DHC-515, to learn more about their company structure and capabilities.

Sandra Howell took part in the Invest Alberta panel at the Canadian Pavillion discussing growth of the aviation industry in Alberta and how De Havilland Canada contributes to that growth in a major way. It is always inspiring to watch her speak so comfortably and confidently. Our future is looking bright!

After the panel ended, I walked around another giant exhibition hall, it was so extensive I did not know where to look! The exhibitors were grouped by geographical areas, which provided an interesting perspective. There were many unmanned vehicle technologies and materials presented by the Asian countries that we don’t typically see back home.

Overall, another amazing day. The DHC team kept working through their back-to-back meetings at the same fast pace. They didn’t seem to notice how tired they were until the drive home when suddenly things got quiet and some fell asleep, especially when traffic driving back from the show was backed up for more than an hour.

Day 4 will be a bit less hectic, leaving more time to explore the exhibits, and I look forward to continuing with that. Check out some of the photos captured below.
Have a great day everyone!
