As we continue our journey through this transformative period at De Havilland Canada, it is important to take a moment to recognize the incredible strides we have made together. Your commitment and perseverance have been truly remarkable. Building on the foundation of GRIT that we discussed last month, we are pleased to introduce the second of our six core values that will guide us forward: RESPECT.
Respect is the cornerstone of a healthy and productive work environment. It is about valuing each other’s contributions, embracing diversity, and fostering a culture of inclusivity. Respect means recognizing the worth and dignity of every individual, regardless of their role or background. It is through respect that we build trust, collaboration, and a sense of belonging.
In the midst of the significant changes we are experiencing—the consolidation of our subsidiary aerospace companies into a centralized entity, amongst others—respect becomes even more crucial. As we integrate different teams, cultures, and ways of working, respect will be the glue that holds us together, ensuring that everyone feels heard, valued, and included.
We have seen countless examples of respect in action across our organization. From the open and honest dialogues during our town hall meetings, to the collaborative efforts between teams working on the ERP project to streamline our processes, respect has been at the heart of our interactions.
Respect is a quality that we can all cultivate and practice daily. Here are a few ways we can foster respect in our workplace:
-
Active Listening: Pay attention to what others are saying without interrupting. Show that you value their input by acknowledging their ideas and providing thoughtful feedback.
-
Empathy: Try to understand things from others’ perspectives. Empathy helps us appreciate the experiences and challenges that our colleagues face.
-
Recognition: Acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of your teammates. Small gestures of appreciation can go a long way in making others feel valued.
-
Inclusivity: Embrace diversity and make an effort to include everyone in discussions and decision-making processes. Respect for different viewpoints and backgrounds enriches our collective experience and leads to better outcomes.
As we move forward with our restructuring and centralization efforts, let’s make respect a guiding principle in all our interactions. By treating each other with dignity and valuing each person’s unique contributions, we will create an environment where everyone can thrive.
Thank you for your continued dedication and hard work. Let’s uphold respect in everything we do, as we build a stronger, more unified De Havilland Canada.
